Dr. Peter Resteghini

Peter Resteghini is a Consultant Physiotherapist and Musculoskeletal Sonographer working at the Homerton University Hospital. He has over 25 years of clinical experience in the field of Sports and Musculoskeletal Medicine. Further qualifications include a PhD and training to become an independent prescriber. In addition to working at the Homerton Peter has a number of teaching commitments including lecturing at UCL, Canterbury University and the University of East London. He has worked and lectured in Australia, America, Egypt and Canada.

Peter currently works in the NHS Sports and Musculoskeletal Medicine Clinics at the Homerton University Hospital which he established over 9 years ago. These clinics are centres for education and learning and routinely attended by a variety of both Allied Health Professionals and Medical staff from other specialities. This teaching commitment has led to many of the staff Peter has trained to go on to leading roles at a national Sporting level including the London Marathon, Triathlon, Rugby and Football Premiership, and the 2012 London Olympics.

Peter is currently leads on a number of research projects including prolotherapy injection for osteoarthritis, the assessment of carpal tunnel using ultrasound, the use of high volume ultrasound guided injection for chronic Achilles tendinopathy, the use of autologous blood in the management of tendinopathy and the evaluation of Extra-corporeal shockwave therapy in the management of tendinopathy. Peter is the course Director for the Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert) in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound.


Ms. Emma Dunphy

Senior Chartered Physiotherapist

Homerton University Hospital

Emma is a senior physiotherapist with a particular interest in diagnosis and rehabilitation of sports injuries. She works clinically in the NHS as well as privately for the Homerton Physiotherapy & Sports Clinic. Emma is currently a contract physio for the International Tennis Federation and for England Lacrosse.

Emma is an NIHR Clinical Doctoral Research Fellow at University College London. She is doing a PhD looking at Digital Interventions to support Anterior Cruciate Ligament rehabilitation. She qualified from the University of East London with first class honours.

Other Sports experience includes working with athletes at West Ham United, London Marathon, the Great Britain Deaf Women's football team, the World Masters Tennis Championships, the European Games, the World Islamic Games and the Olympic Games.

Emma has done professional courses in sports massage, pilates, taping and strapping and in advanced first aid and trauma for sport. She is also an acupuncturist and a member of the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists.


Matthew Cowan-Dickie

BSc (Hons) MCSP, MAACP

Matthew qualified in 2001 with BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy. He has a wealth of experience having worked solely in musculoskeletal physiotherapy since 2006. Currently, his primary role is as an Advanced Practice Physiotherapist at the Homerton Hospital. He has roles within the Sports and Musculoskeletal medicine Clinic and Orthopaedic Knee Clinic at Homerton. His extended skill set includes Masters level qualifications in diagnostic ultrasound and strength and conditioning. He is in the final stages of completing his Master's degree in Advanced Physiotherapy. He has a specialist interest in Sports injuries and Lower Limb Pathology. He has been heavily involved in pre and post-operative Anterior Cruciate Ligament rehabilitation at the Homerton for many years. As well as this specific interest, he has a good depth of knowledge and experience in all types of musculoskeletal conditions and injuries including back pain, shoulder dysfunctions, orthopaedic and rheumatological conditions.

He is qualified in the use of acupuncture as an adjunct to physiotherapy and is a member of the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists. Other postgraduate courses accumulated over his years of experience include mat-work Pilates and a variety of manual and exercise therapy approaches.

Matthew participated in amateur rugby for many years but now prefers to spectate for the most part. He enjoys cheering on his nephew who plays for Exeter Chiefs and England.


Daniel Davis

Physiotherapist BSc (Hons)

Daniel is a senior specialist musculoskeletal physiotherapist working both in the NHS, and privately at the Homerton Sports and Physiotherapy clinic. He qualified in 2016 with a Master’s degree in Physiotherapy from after completing a Batchelor’s degree in Psychology. As a former international athlete representing England and Great Britain in the 110m hurdles, his passion for physiotherapy stemmed from the invaluable advice, guidance, and treatment he received from his physio.

Daniel is experienced in treating a wide range of sporting, work related and spinal problems, with a particular interest in knee and ankle injuries. He is the lead therapist in the anterior cruciate ligament rehabilitation programme within his NHS team where he specialises in optimising patient recovery, rehab and return to sport. He has completed qualifications in acupuncture being a member of the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists, well as massage, sports taping, and MSc level training in strength and conditioning.

In addition to his hands-on experience, Daniel is also a qualified lecturer, and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He has spent the last four years teaching part-time on the BSc and MSc (Pre and Post Reg) physiotherapy programmes at Brunel University alongside treating patients clinically. With his background in elite sport, rehab and psychology, Daniel takes a holistic approach to rehabilitation. He prides himself in treating clients with complex musculoskeletal problems that haven’t been resolved successfully elsewhere, and loves the challenge.
